Responsibilities

Power/mation is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our IT Department in St. Paul. The Systems Engineer leverages advanced knowledge of Information Technology (IT) systems to deliver state-of-the-art capabilities in support of a secure, stable and high-performance environment. The individual is responsible for design, management and troubleshooting of various systems and applications to ensure the highest level of IT infrastructure availability.

Manage and monitor all systems and applications for optimal performance and availability

Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems along with application software (including ERP and integrated applications)

R

Incorporate security best practices into new implementations and assist in the identification of necessary improvements within existing IT environment

R

Manage existing backup solutions along with future implementations and improvements

R

Assist in the administration and maintenance of existing communications infrastructure, along with playing a lead role in future implementations

R

Work with all necessary parties to further develop and maintain disaster recovery plan and associated technologies

R

May require travel to other regional office locations on occasion

R

Work with peers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues related to application, system, network errors and poor performance

R

Develop and maintain documentation around installed systems and applications

R

Implement new and maintain existing system management tools and documentation

R

Work with outside vendors to maintain company-wide network; including WAN, Internet and security infrastructure

R

Assist in the establishment and maintenance of IT hardware and software contracts

R

Work with management and 3rd parties to create, maintain and adhere to existing IT policies, procedures and strategies

R

Assist IT management with departmental budget

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or IT degree with equivalent experience. Five or more years of experience in an IT support role.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong verbal and written communication skills

R

Exceptional time management and organization skills

R

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft server OS, VMware, Citrix and AIX

R

Advanced knowledge of Active Directory admin tools

R

Knowledge of Dell, HP, and IBM hardware

R

Understanding of network services such as ADFS, AD integrated DNS, WINS, DHCP, TCP/IP and LAN/WAN topology

R

Experience with EDI operations; including working with outside parties to implement and maintain EDI connectivity and transmissions

R

Advanced knowledge around scripting, such as Powershell

R

Experience with MS SQL and Progress database management is preferred

R

Advanced knowledge of O365 and/or G Suite email platforms preferred

R

Knowledge of Shoretel/Mitel communications hardware and software is preferred

R

Experience with distribution ERP packages such as Infor SX.e is preferred

R

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
